In the storms of life, where can I find peace?

I still haven’t figure out whether God tests you more when you are learning about a particular subject, or because you are simply more aware of the issue that you feel like you are getting tested more. Personally, I’d place my bets on both.

Last week, I felt the waves of life pounding against me. Yes, I’ve had to deal with worse storms in the past, but as forgetful as we tend to be, it’s usually the current problems that feel the most devastating; perhaps because the past cannot really capsize you anymore (unless you have issues letting go of things).

Yet during this rough patch of life, I was constantly reminded about the different passages I’ve been writing on and found that God’s Word still proves true in finding peace: to not let anxiety overwhelm me, to pray to God instead of worrying, and to be thankful while making our petitions before Him.

In times when my mind wandered toward things that were untrue, ignoble, unjust, impure, disagreeable, or vile, to instead focus on that which is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, and of good repute. And, as a result, He gave me a peace that I could not quite understand or reason myself to come to. It was a peace that guarded my heart and mind from the despairing thoughts of life.

Although I realize that if you have been following what I have written so far that this is not anything really new, I wanted to write this as a testament to the truth of the promises in God’s Word. (Also, it’s a lot easier for me to write a reflection than a Bible lesson and I’ve still got much to catch up on :) ). I’m sure whomever is reading this has dealt with far more than I did last week. Or perhaps it wasn’t really that difficult at all.

Whichever the case, I ask the same question to you: How did you deal with the problems you faced? Do you feel that those issues are solved, or does it feel like they were just bottled, only to resurface later with an even greater destruction? Let me make one simple request. Whether or not you believe in God as I do, simply pray to Him, and I believe He will show Himself faithful. No, this does not mean your problem will (necessarily) be solved as you hope it will, but I do believe that you will find comfort in this time of your life.
